The main function of the cleaning roll is to prevent the pulp from accumulating and causing the paper to break.

The cleaning roll is more reliable in guiding the paper web through the press section, because it removes the shredded paper generated on the edge of the protective wall, thereby preventing the pulp from accumulating and causing the paper to break, significantly to improve operational reliability and machine performance. At the time of threading and after the end of the threading, the roll is slowly rotated in the direction opposite to the running direction of the paper by the gear motor, thereby completing the automatic cleaning. During the cleaning process, the roll falls on the two doctor bars by their own weight. The shredded paper collected on the cleaning roll can be removed in the direction of rotation of the nip, and dropped into the pulper after scraping from the bar. After the cleaning roll is used behind the vacuum pick-up roll, it is close to the paper receiving felt on the splashing screen. Its structure is similar to that of the guide roll. The roll cover is generally hard chrome plated 、 coated stainless steel and Tungsten carbide plus Teflon。
